How To Get A

  1. Buy a small laptop or netbook. In some schools you can bring these to classes, but in other schools you can use them to study with at breaks. You can also buy prepaid modems and recharge vouchers so that you can access the internet from your laptop or netbook.
  2. Make sure you are eating foods that are good for the brain (brain foods) and get between 6 and 8 hours of sleep a night.
  3. Buy a planner. This helps to be more organized so that you don't end up studying all night. Plan when you'll study (Make sure to squeeze in a 10-15 minute break for every hour of study) and at what times you'll eat (and what foods!)Also try and fit in 15-20 minutes exercise a day, because exercise clears the mind and helps you to concentrate. When planning your day, improvise wherever possible, like exercising while your eating at recess or studying in the library at lunch. Substitute 15 minutes of watching TV for 10 minutes of YOU time (time where you can relax and reflect on your day by reading, exercising, listening to music or just sitting down thinking).
  4. Pay attention in class! If your eating brain foods and getting enough sleep at night than there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to concentrate during lessons.
  5. Try and make friends with someone who is a couple of grades ahead of you. They will have done your year before, and can help you prepare for upcoming tests and assignments.
  6. Ask for what you need from your teacher. You might be a bit nervous about asking them for harder work or extra homework, but in most cases they will be more than happy to give you what you need. They can also have references to things like books that can help you, websites or good tutors.
  7. Study! One of the most important parts of getting good grades is studying. Try studying at lunch times, or while on public transport or in the car.
